Ingrid Krau, 1942 in Berlin geboren, studierte Architektur in Braunschweig und Berlin, arbeitete als Architektin, führte ein Projekt zur Humanisierung des Arbeitslebens durch und war an der Umnutzung von Industrieanlagen im Ruhrgebiet beteiligt, 1985 bis 1990 Mitherausgeberin der »Stadtbauwelt«, 1994 – 2007 Professorin an der TU München (Lehrstuhl für Stadtraum und Stadtentwicklung) und bis 2010 Direktorin in der Deutschen Akademie für Städtebau und Landesplanung. Sie lebt in München.
